Jernberg Family Stories

Glen William Munns, 86 of Rexburg, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Glen was born May 10, 1931 in Rexburg, Idaho to Alvin Weekes Munns and Clara Jane Brindley Munns. Glen graduated from Madison High School and attended Ricks College during winter quarters when farming would allow. It was at Ricks College that Glen met his sweetheart Elaine Jernberg and they were married in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on June 5, 1952. Glen loved farming and ranching and believed they lived in the most beautiful place on earth.

He had fond memories of the two trips they took with Elaine’s family to Sweden but was always perfectly happy to spend his days right in Lyman. He loved to dance and belonged to the Holiday Dance Club and served as Stake Dance Director for many years. He also had a flair for drama and enjoyed acting in plays in high school and he played Demetrius in the Robe and Othello in a Shakespeare play at Ricks College. Glen is a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in many capacities such as stake missionary, Sunday School teacher, quorum leader, high council and his favorite was working the Idaho Falls and Rexburg temples for 30 years. Glen was a devoted family man and thought it was important to teach his children the value of work, but had a way of turning it into fun.

Glen was survived by his wife Elaine; and five children, Douglas Munns (Debra) of Rexburg; Janie Nielsen (Brent) of Rexburg; Susan Hansen (Shayne) of Newdale; Mike Munns (Annette) of Rexburg and Colleen Snell (Greg) of Rexburg; 23 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren; one brother, David Munns (LuAnn) of Rexburg and two sister-in-laws Nola Munns and Verda Munns.

Preceding him in death were his parents Alvin and Clara Jane Munns, his step mother Elva Bowen Munns, his sister Alta Benson (Herbert), his brothers Howard Munns, Ralph Munns (Merle) and Ray Munns and two infant grandchildren Andrew Lee Munns and Trevor Hansen.

A viewing was held at the Lyman LDS ward building (1952 W 6000 S Rexburg Idaho) at 6:30 pm on Friday December 8, 2017 and the funeral was be held in the Rexburg South Stake Center (5200 S 2041 W Rexburg Idaho) at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing one hour prior to funeral services. Burial was in the Sutton Cemetery following the service.
